Latest Genetic Study Rejects Aryan Invasion Theory

Latest studies in the field of genetics have shown that the entire Aryan Invasion theory is a big myth. On the contrary the latest study show that genetic components have originated in India which has populated middle East and west Asia and beyond which is in fact in line with Hindu historical texts.

This study was conducted by the prestigious Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) Hyderabad, published in the American Journal of Human Genetics.

Where does these findings place the likes of Michael Witzel of Harvard and Romilla Thappar of JNU along with hundreds of their outdated acolytes. I guess only time will bury these fossils out of sight and mind.

Is Hazare movement funded by Presidential Religious Advisory Council?

After entering White House, President Obama created a President's Advisory Council on Faith based and Neighbourhood Partnerships. This council is the Presidents eyes and ears on religious affairs both domestic and international and his chief advisory body. This is headed by Joshua DuBois a Christian evangelist.

This body has a representative from all religious communities and has one such seat for Hinduism but this is merely hogwash. The Hindu representative is completely sidelined and ignored and at the best tolerated. Most of the recommendations and reports to the President are anti Hindu and have been passed without allowing the Hindu representative to challenge, discuss or recommend changes.

While reading the book Breaking India I can across a very interesting passage, considering the current movement of India Against Corruption (IAC) and team Hazare taking center stage and with some of its members (Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejriwal, Prashant Bhushan) accused of being influenced and funded by agencies and organisations inimical to India, it seemed important that I bring to light the the following passage which reads as follows.

One recommendation of the above mentioned Presidential council on religious affairs was that the government assistance with respect to India should be 'awarded through partnerships with civil society organisations that have demonstrated commitment to work with poor communities.'

What does this mean? Does this mean that all the allegations of funding from Ford foundation which is known foreign policy tool of the US administration and more specifically the CIA is true? Is the US government and Christian organisations channeling funds through various sources into so called civil movements? How come this angle is not being investigated either by government or media. The funding angle of IAC and team Hazare has been widely reported but there has been no reaction from IAC and team Hazare denying or challenging such articles nor the government of India has launched any investigation into this issue.

Interestingly most articles talking about the foreign funding of IAC and team Hazare is being discussed only on blogs and but the main stream media has pulled out explicit stories that were published when this news had just broken out in August of 2011.

In our enthusiasm to fight the evils of corruption that plagues our administrative system and daily lives we have to be careful who we follow and not let in a bigger evil that may endanger our countries very existence. Some may not have the same agenda as they claim. Many others may have hidden agendas. Let us not be misled by people who offer a quick fix solution to an evil that is so well entrenched.

The Jan Lokpal bill is no magic wand, it cannot fix the evil of corruption and but will create a dangerous extra constitutional organisation of 'so called elites of civil society'. Lets not get misled by the promises of a few acting as prophets who are remote controlled by dangerous people.

Contrary to Indian notion of secularism, American secularism merely separates church/state at institutional level and does not preclude prominent government leaders promoting Christian advocates as 'Biblical values'. For instance Hillary Clinton is among over one hundred members of the White House and US Congress Christian prayer-group that meets monthly in a high-power informal setting, to set agendas based on shared ideologies.

Hillary Clinton has on many occasions credited her Baptist background for her value system and how it helps her in her work. One can only think how much of her deep personal Christian background must impact her work and policies. We are not even talking how this high powered prayer-group must be influencing policies.

On a recent visit to India (July 2011) Hillary Clinton even spoke at the Annadurai Centenary Library as an endorsement of divisive Dravidian movement which is an indirect shot in the arm for Christian missionaries who have created and are using fraudulent Dravidian fault lines to aid their conversion programs. The government instead of marginalising and slowly ending the Dravidian movement, it is fanning and promoting the fraudulent founded cause.

US Government nexus with Christian missions in India

The US government has had a deliberate strategy to allow development funding to be increasingly controlled by evangelical organisations. One such organisation used as a tool of foreign policy is USAID, to counter Marxist around the world including South East Asia. Under President Bush sr. and jr. a CIA+USAID+Evangelical partnership evolved particularly in the Indian context.

In 1999 President Clinton appointed Brady Anderson board member of World Vision as administrator of USAID who openly stated that US government has long used Christian organisations as delivery mechanism of foreign aid. In 2001 George Bush jr. appointed Andrew Natsios vice president of World Vision as head of USAID. USAID clearly states that by 'faith' they only mean Abrahamic faiths. Such criss crossing of Church multinationals and the US government is not a coincidence and what does it tell us about the US administration.

Besides a few secular NGO's USAID shows preference for Christian faith based NGO's in India. USAID director in India, George Deikun has stated on many occasions that Christian evangelical organisations are USAID's most visible working partners in India. What does this mean, are there other invisible parters somewhere who are burrowing in and hollowing out India and its civilisation. USAID support many Christian NGO's such as Catholic Relief Services, SHARAN, YWCA, Salvation Army and St. Mary's Hospital to name a few. USAID and World Vision formed predatory partnership during the tsunami relief in India and other calamities such as flood, earthquakes, accidents using the vulnerability of the people to harvest souls for their faith.

Since 2007 US government has dramatically slashed 35% of development aid to India but is channeling the same money to Christian faith based NGO's in India.

Pew Research Center compares India to Iraq on religious intolerance!

Pew Research Center in a 2009 published a international report on social hostility and religious discrimination and in this report a paper was published titled 'Rise of Hindu Extremism'. The Pew report was given extensive coverage in the media and sensationalised under the title ‘India is next only to Iraq on religious discrimination’ blaming Hindu groups for religious strife. The report and media stories are completely silent on Christian evangelical provocation and propaganda which stir relgious conflict. We in India know how untrue and wrong this comparison and how different it is at the ground level.

The Pew report cites various unverified second hand sources giving a one sided view portraying Christian missionaries as victims of targeted violence and building an image that Hindus as well the local administration are attacking Christians. These reports never publish that Christian missionaries use offensive and hateful language against Hinduism and distribute literature that are inflamatory in nature.

Independent local sources have revealed that these hate filled speech and literature are planed in order to provoke a reaction from the local population so that any action can be used as 'atrocity literature'. Most accounts are exaggerated by Chrisitian news letters and online magazines without citing the reason for the attack if any.

Ghalughara's in Sikh history from 1700-1762

Sikhs during the 1750' constituted approximately 7% of the population of Punjab as against 50% muslims and 42% Hindus.* These were trying times for the Sikhs and the flower of the Khalsa had to under go many baptisms by fire.

This article is about little known ghalugharas or massacres which took place in Punjab during the period 1746 and 1762, this 16 year period saw copious amount of bloodshed. The first one being the chhota ghalughara (small massacare) and the wada ghalughara (big massacare).

In the first instance on 10th March 1746 a large Mughal force led by Yahiya Khan massacred 7000 Sikh civilians and non combatants. The modus was to rip open bellies of Sikh captives and stick a iron peg into the head. Additional 3000 Sikhs civilians were captured and taken to Lahore for a public execution.

The wada ghalughara took place in February 1762 and was perpetrated by Ahmad Shah Abdali of Afghanistan. Sikhs were an anthema to Abdali and the final straw came when the Sikhs attacked Abdali and his loot baggage and freed 5000 Hindu women and all the plunder from Delhi, Mathura and Vrindavan. In retaliation he asked his son Timur Shah now governor of Lahore to eliminate the 'accursed infidels'. Attacks and counter attacks were a common occurrence and the land was drenched in blood culminating in the wada ghalughara. On 5th February 1962 in a surprise raid on a large assembly of Sikh village folks at Sirhind, Abdali's army massacred 30,000 Sikhs mostly women and children who were being escorted to a safer location.

Over a period of 70 years starting around 1700 was a very tragic period for the Sikhs. It is estimated that Guru Gobind Singh in his battle with the Mughals lost 5000 men. Banda Bahadur at least 25,000. Abdus Samad Khan governor of Lahore killed 20,000 Sikhs and his son Zakariya Khan another 20,000. Yahiya Khan accounted for 10,000 Sikhs on a single day (chhota ghalughara). His brother Nawaz Hussain assassinated nearly 1000 Sikhs in 1747 his borther-in-law another 30,000. Abdali massacred 30,000 Sikhs in one single day at Sirhind. Abdali's deputy Najib-ud-Daulah killed nearly 20,000 Sikhs and petty officials may have killed 10,000. All in all nearly 200,000 Sikhs, men, women and children were killed in just 70 years.

The persecution of Sikhs has not ended even to this day, worst case in modern history was the 1984 Sikh massacare by fanatic Congress party workers who killed more than 3,000 Sikhs in Delhi and approximately 7,000 Sikhs in other parts of North India. No one has been arrested and imprisoned for their crimes to this day. 1984 was no less than any ghalughara in Sikh history.

Questions pro Aryan Invasion Theorist never answer!

For long scholars have only looked at retrofitting all available evidence and some fictional ones to prove an Aryan invasion of India. The AIT is a very unidimensional approach which has been disproved on all counts. This article is to question AIT proponents what proof have they found elsewhere especially in Central Asia the supposed original homeland of the Aryans or in Western Europe where some of the Aryan tribes supposed to have migrated and settled.

In a very positive development last week respected and acknowledged historians and scientists from numerous fields like astronomy, archaeology and anthropology gathered for a seminar to confirm India’s rich past. Led by Institute of Scientific Research on Vedas (www.serveveda.org) and Indian Archeological Society they together reaffirmed the now widely held theory that there was no Aryan race or Aryan Invasion of India and the history books of India and the world have to be re-written to correct a gargantuan blunder.

The purpose of this post is not to go into what is already known and acknowledged world over about the non-existent Aryan invasion theory and a mountain of evidence has been provided as proof. The purpose of this post is to put the ball on the other side of the court starting with a few comments and questions.

1. If the Aryan invasion happened around 1500 BC starting from central Asia, one group moved West i.e. towards Europe and the other group south finally into India then what evidence is there of the group which went West and populated Europe?

2. If for a moment we believe that there was a migration of a body of people from central Asia, looking at human evolution and early migration patterns most communities settled around perennial sources of water in tropical or sub tropical areas where the sunshine and water is abundant and weather moderate. One would wonder why would anyone travel west into heavily wooded areas affording less pastures for their grazing animals and extreme cold weather for majority of the year allowing very small window for growing crops. If we look at recent history, Mongols the masters of the steppes only went where their horses could get grazing pastures and avoided heavily wooded areas. If nomadic horse riding Aryan herdsmen were anything like the nomadic Mongol herdsmen then they would probably do the same more so if they were chariot drivers. So my point being that even if there was a migration which is highly unlikely there was no migration west thus Europe never received any people from central Asian at that point in time. So Europeans should stop associating themselves with Aryans or any such race.

3. Has there been any archeological evidence of chariots from Bronze Age or from the period corresponding to Aryan invasion unearthed in Europe?

4. With the last Ice Age in the northern hemisphere early human population would naturally gravitate towards warmer climes, i.e. the Middle East and India. At the end of the Ice Age approximately 10,000 years BC with more lands available for occupation in the north precipitated by population pressure on existing land people would have been pushed northwards which probably explains why a lot of European languages have similar words or sounds to Sanskrit and not because of migration the other way around.

5. If the Vedas were created by the Aryans decidedly in an oral tradition then where are the traces howsoever faint of the Vedas in western civilisation. Has this proof been provided by the other side?

6. In Bronze Age or later age settlements unearthed in Europe has there been any discovery of the fire altar as per the Vedic tradition. Please bear in mind that the Vedic fire altar is a mathematically precise construction with each brick shaped on precise mathematical calculations?

7. If the primary Gods of the Aryans were Indra, Varuna and others, coincidence of similar Gods in Norse or Germanic mythology notwithstanding has there been any direct references to these Gods by same name in Europe?

8. What would inspire continental dwellers to have a name for the God of Sea, Varuna as they live thousands of miles away from the sea?

9. The word OM is a oft mentioned in the the Vedas, has there been any evidence of the word OM or its symbolism in Europe ?

10. Lack of horse in Indian sites seems to have been a major point for the invasion theorist, which was proved to be patently false as horse remain have been found all over India since the Pleistocene, approximately 2.5 million years from the current era. Has the other side provided presence of horse in Europe for the period we are discussing? How come Roman and Greek records written starting 8th century BC i.e. 800 years before Christ and Roman war records written starting 5th century BC i.e. 500 years before Christ record battle engagements with northern barbarians i.e. present day Switzerland and Germany etc on foot. Even much after towards the day of the Roman Empire the northern tribes always fought on foot. Popular movies based on accurate historical research depict northern barbarians to be dressed in animal fur fighting on foot. So where is the evidence of horse in Europe during this period.

This brings us to recorded history of travellers of antiquity. One such travelogue which has survived the ravages of time is the Indika by Megasthenes which became a reference guide even to later day travellers such as Arrian and Strabo. Megasthenes was the ambassador of Seleucus Nikator, Satrap (Governor) of Alexander the Great for middle east and Asia minor (Turkey) to the court of Indian Emperor Chandragupta Maurya and travelled extensively around India from 250 BC to 298 BC. In his book Indika Megasthenes minutely describes the people, customs, traditions, attire, food religion, laws, geography, fauna, flora and all other possible details that he ecounters while travelling around India from Pentapotamia (Greek for land of the five rivers present day Punjab) to Patalibotra (Patliputra, present day Patna) to Kanyakumari in the south to Serendib (Lanka).

In his description of the people of India he clearly states that they are tall but lightly built (lean) dark skinned with black long hair which they tie in a bun on top of their head and wear turbans with twisted cloth. All men have beards and shaving is not known among the Indians. Nowhere in his entire narration has he alluded to fair skinned Indians either in the North west, North or in the South lording over dark skinned people.

In fact in Megasthenes description of Chandragupta Maurya he notes the Emperors dark skin, medium build and pock marked face. He also goes into great detail about the Brahmanae caste (Brahmins) and their customs and traditions but does not make a remark on their skin colour as being lighter than the others and they lording over the others. In fact he mentions various instances where the Brahmins have been out casted for having broken a vow, law or tradition.

This description of India goes counter to the AIT theory of large, blue eyed, blonde haired white skinned Aryans lording over dark skinned natives. The description of the people of India by Megasthenes is around 1250 years after the supposed arrival of the Aryans i.e. 1500 BC and given that in the intervening period there may have been some intermingling of the people causing some of these racial attributes to be diluted but at any rate fair skinned people should have been present in some numbers and complete absence of any such mention in the text is a clear indicator that no such fair skinned invasion or migration of Aryans occurred.

Thus we should allow the pro Aryan invasion theorist to prove the Aryan invasion of Europe conclusively first rather than prove the invasion of India through retrofitting evidence and sometimes concocted ones.

Rahul Gandhi has not only proved to be a liar and a charlatan but has also insulted the poor farmers hospitality by not eating the simple food his wife prepared. Instead meals were ordered from outside, who knows even flown in from Delhi at tax payers expense. So what is all this talk of understanding the poor when you cant even share his meals. Inventing the Dravidian Race Part - 3, Appropriation of Shiva, excerpts from the book 'Breaking India'

Protestant missionaries in the beginning attacked Saiva Siddhanta vehemently, the American Missionary Seminary in Sri Lanka used a Tamil English journal called the Morning Star (1841) to launch an attack on Saivites, calling Tamils barbarians living in darkness. This attack proved counterproductive, caused much angst among the people for the Christian disrespect towards a cherished tradition. The attack was also effectively countered by a Sri Lankan Saivite Arumuga Navalar. Therefore the strategy changed from denigration to appropriation.

G.U. Pope used this strategy very often, whenever he found something suitable and in line with his Christian belief he attributed it to Christian influence on Tamils and whenever he found something not fitting into his Christian belief and dogma, he blamed it on Hinduism. He states:

It will be seen how very near in some not unimportant respects the Saiva system approximates to Christianity; and yet some of the corruption to which it has been led by what almost seems a necessity are months the most deplorable superstitions anywhere to be found.

Later Christian missionaries started using this strategy to start portraying Saiva Siddhantha closer to Christianity. This missionary success in selectively appropriating and spreading confusion has permeated academic Tamil studies ever since.

Inventing the Dravidian Race Part - 2, De-Hinduising Tamil Traditions excerpts from the book 'Breaking India'

Since colonial times to this day there has been attempts to construct an ethnic-religious identity separate from the rest of India, and to find christian roots for this so-called 'Tamil religion'. This entailed manipulating the interpretations of the literary core of Tamil tradition, which consists of three main elements:

i) Thirukural, a classical Tamil text containing ethical literature that is very much a part of the Indian Smriti tradition;

ii) Saiva Siddhantha, a Vedanta branch of Saiva philosophy; and

iii) A huge body of classical Tamil devotional literature.

As per recorded statements of Robert Caldwell, the so called saviour of the Tamil people noted on number of occasions that nothing ethical or civilised could come out of the Dravidian mind, either by itself or under the influence of the Vedic religion. But at the same time he did not want to credit Vedic tradition, so he chose another source. He attributed Thirukural to Jainism. Even if for a moment this is believed to be true, Caldwell in his attempt to create fake origins and sources forgot that Jainism is also part of the Vedic religious system which in effect puts the Thirukural within the Hindu tradition. At any rate Caldwell's claims have been demolished. G.U Pope another missionary maintained that Thiruvalluvar was under Christian influence (St. Thomas) that produced this literary work. This claim for decades has been rejected even from within the christian missionary community. However, it is being revived today by evangelical movements in Tamil Nadu.

Saiva Siddhantha

Dravidian scholars labour to position Saiva Siddhantha as something unique to Tamil spirituality and not linked to Hinduism although the traditional works of Saiva Siddhantha refers to Vedas as their authority. G.U Pope and other missionaries positioned it as a monotheistic approximation of Christianity but not exactly pure Christianity. They then attempted to hoodwink people into believing that they were following a polluted form of Christianity and they could help people in upgrading to pure Christianity via conversion.

Tamil Devotional Literature

All hymns written in Tamil speak of Siva as living in the Himalayas and even address him as 'Arya'. Evangelist and pro Dravidian scholars fabricated the origins and distorted the interpretations of their contents to suite their agendas.

Chrisitian historian Stephen Neill rejects Pope and Caldwell's fraudulent claim with a tone of empathy: 'Their brilliant imagination has produced a beautiful romance. The sober verdict of historical judgment must be that any Christian influence on Tamil literature is unlikely...what we see is devout minds working on similar problems and arriving independently at comparable results'.

Inventing the Dravidian Race Part - 1, Breaking India

Colonial administrators and evangelists were able to divide and rule the peoples of the Indian subcontinent, based on imaginary histories and racial myths - to the extent of inventing an entire race called 'Dravidians'. Evangelical and colonial interest worked in tandem with ethno-linguistic scholars to fabricate the Dravidian identity. British administrator Brian Hodgson* invented the term 'Tamulian' to refer to what he considered to be non-Aryan indigenous population of India.

The catalyst who is credited with the construction of the 'Dravidian race' was a British missionary named Bishop Robert Caldwell (1814-91) from the Anglican church. He used linguistic theories to create a racial theory. In his papers and books presented to his peers he proposed that Dravidians were in India before the arrival of the Aryans, were cheated and kept in shackles by the Brahmin's through exploitation of religion. He demanded a complete removal of Sanskrit from Tamil, and once the Dravidian mind was free of the Brahmin Aryan influence, Christian evangelisation would reap the souls of the Dravidians.

Contrary to claims by other missionary scholars like William Carey, who supported the thesis that all Indian languages are derived from Sanskrit, a critical role was played by Alexander Campbell and Francis Ellis, collectors of Madras who broke rank and claimed that south Indian languages were not derived from Sanskrit which laid the foundation for later intervention. No Indian scholar or Pandit has made such a claim before.

A lie took to the absurd when Ellis claimed that Tamil and Dravidians are connected to Hebrew and also with Arabic. Their logic was based on some convoluted biblical theory of skin colour, all dark skinned people were children of Ham - the cursed one.

Caldwell transformed Linguistics into Ethnology which had far reaching consequences. He established the theological foundation for Dravidian separatism from Hinduism backed by the church. What this means simply is separating south India from north India by raising false boogies of Aryanism and Brahmanism supported by 'Atrocity Literature'**, disassociating Tamil from Hindu spirituality and giving it a independent origin which instills temporary pride before church usurps the classical art-forms of South India***. For all the degradation and insults heaped on Tamil culture and Hinduism a statue of Robert Caldwell and G.U. Pope another missionary has been erected on Marina beach in Chennai by the local state government. It is a major landmark in that city today.

Missionary strategy was two pronged. First, intensely study the devotional and spiritual literature and praise it in glowing terms to Tamil scholars. Second, they projected Tamil culture as being very different and totally independent from the rest of India. To support their argument they would provide spurious works created by the church to support this view. This body of work then went on to provide ideological underpinnings of later racist politics. Chandra Mallampalli, a christian scholar, explains:

South Indian political culture of non-Brahmanism drew its inspiration from the Dravidian ideology: this ideology posited a distinct linguistic and racial identity for south Indians. Non Brahmin agitators pitted Dravidian culture, which most often championed the Tamil language, against Hindu, Aryan or Sanskritic cultures from the North. Champions of Dravidianism and non-Brahmanism drew upon the cultural and linguistic resources provided by missionaries such as Robert Caldwell and G.U. Pope.

Missionary scholarship created a false local ethnic identity and Tamils were instructed to reject its Hindu nature. It became strategic to show that Tamil religion had strong ethical underpinnings on par with civilised world and this meant monotheistic Christianity. What these theorist failed to say and the people who fell for the Dravidian race theory and religion failed to ask was what is Tamil religion they talk of? But what was provided were quasi Christian traits retrofitted into Tamil devotional works to prove its similarity with Christianity. In fact the propaganda went to the extent of claiming that the Thirukural was influenced by St. Thomas and Thiruvalluvar the great Tamil Hindu saint was his disciple.

The second part of the strategy kicked in now. To show the proximity of Christianity with the spuriously created Tamil race-religion identity the missionaries chose the Kural - a non sectarian humanistic body of work and Saiva Siddhanta - corpus of scriptures seen as representing a native monotheistic counterpart to Christianity. Brook and Schmid identify two steps in the way these Tamil clsssics were used: first, separating Brahmins and non-Brahmins using the Kural; and second, linking Dravidian ideology with Saiva Siddhanta as an interim step towards further linking it with Christianity.

Robert Caldwell characterised the Brahmins as the racial others of the Dravidians, the Aryan colonisers^ who speak and read Sanskrit. Through this manipulation the Brahmins were made out to be colonisers and the actual colonisers the British and their Christian mission were projected as saviors of the Tamils.

Inventing the Aryan Race. Excerpts from the book 'Breaking India'

Raymond Schwab in his seminal book The Oriental Renaissance published in 1984 explains that in the late 1700 the widespread arrival of the translation of the Bhagavad Gita of the Hindus provided the west with the first idea of the advanced level of eastern philosophy and spiritual message independent of the Bible and other classical traditions like the Greeks and the Romans. Hinduism became a source of many theological debates and arguments. The publication of Kalidasa' Shankutala proved the proverbial last straw. The Europeans had to appropriate a superior civilisation to keep their superior religion and race status intact and thus started the greatest re-writing and retrofitting of culture, religion, language and history of the world.

The evolution of Aryan race theory and racism in general evolved out of two factors. One was, Germans seeking national identity separate from the classical traditions (Greece and Rome) as they were already appropriated by the French with whom the German had running feud. The second was imperialistic ambitions and colonial goals of the Britain and other European countries with an overlay of missionary sponsorship.

It was with the discovery of Sanskrit that Philology, i.e. study of languages was born. We can safely say that Europeans obsession with the use of Sanskrit in the construction of a linguistic origin for the European people and their culture gave birth to Philology. To understand why Europeans fell over each other to appropriate Sanskrit stems from the work done by William Jones a judge in the Calcutta court of the East India Company. He says...

The Sanskrit language ... is of a wonderful structure; more perfect than the Greeks, more copious than the Latin, and more exquisitely refined than either, yet bearing to both of them a stronger affinity... than could possibly have been produced by accident

A century later Max Muller one of the most influential figure wrote:

Thanks to the discovery of Sanskrit ancient language of India and thanks to the discovery of the close kinship between this language an the idioms of the principal races of Europe...a complete revolution has taken place in the method of studying the worlds primitive history

What he actually meant was, with the chance discovery of Sanskrit with its similar sounding words we can now re-write our history and the world history as we choose. Once the Indian texts had been mined for their treasures had been processed through mistranslations, plagiarism, rejection and extrapolations and the Indian knowledge securely retrofitted into the Bible and European history, the Indian source lost its earlier glamour and was discarded.

German scholars like Johann Gottfried Herder, Hegel, Karl Wilhelm Friedrich Schlegel were working on creating a separate identity for the German people away from their bitter enemies the French and in fact wanted to elevate it beyond the French. They romanticised India to the level that Schlegel built India as the historical motherland of the German people and claimed that the ancestors of the German people were Indians who migrated to Germany. He describes India as a land of 'happiness and fertility'. He states that the first wave arrived into north Europe from India and another wave much later went to Egypt, Greece and Rome.

While the Germans adopted the Sanskrit and Aryan identity as their national essence, the British had a different relationship with it, in light of the fact that they ruled over the Indians they used it to legitimise their rule as a reunion of a long lost brothers, helping out his downtrodden brethren.

Some of the scholars who lent a helping hand in this fraud were Ernest Renan who created the Aryan Christ, Friedrich Max Muller, Adolphe Pictet, Rudolph Friedrich Grau, Joseph Gobineau, Houston Stewart Chamberlain and few others.

The Aryan Christ

As Christians in Europe struggled to break free from Judaism, Sanskrit & Aryan race theory provided them the escape vehicle. Renan in his inaugural speech in College de France said 'The victory of Christianity was not secure until it completely broke out of it Jewish shell and again became what it had been in the exalted consciousness of its founder, a creation free from narrow minded bonds of the Semetic spirit.' He further wrote 'Originally Jewish to the core Christianity over time rid itself of nearly everything it took from the race, so that those who consider Christianity to be the Aryan religion par excellence are in many respects correct'.

After reading this and many such attempts to divorce Christianity from Judaism I am more and more convinced that the Jews never persecuted and crucified Christ. It was the Romans who did it. Its obvious Christ may have been preaching against the Roman gods, extolling his people to rise and over throw the occupiers, becoming a pain in the back side for the administrators. Once they themselves converted to Christianity a few years later it may have become uncomfortable for the new converts to be seen as the murderer of the founder of their new found religion. The case of murder was then made out against the Jews and how they connived and schemed to have the renegade killed. Since the Bible came much after it was easy to spread this spurious tale of Jews crucifying Christ. By the way notice that Christ in no way looks least bit Jewish but every bit a European.

People like Pictet and Grau justified colonisation of India as the only way to bring long lost Aryan brothers together. Both viewed the world composed of two races, the Aryans and the Semitic. While the Europeans were Aryans the Jews were Semitic. Indians were considered polluted Aryans who had to be converted to the true faith of Christianity. Gobnieau promoted the Aryan invasion theory and caste theory basing his work on Karl Marx's assumption that India had no history other than a series of foreign invasions. One wonders if Karl Marx was really as clued in and profound as he is made out to be?

Wilhelm Halbfass explains how the Aryan construct shifted over time:

During Gobnieau's lifetime, the old theory of the Asian origin of the European languages and traditions and of cultural movements from the East to the West, increasingly gave way to speculations on primeval movement from West to the East and on Aryan migrations from Europe, specially Northern Europe or even the North pole to India. According to these speculations, the Europeans gave their superior culture to the Indians and then lost their superiority through the mixing with the local inhabitants and perished in a climate for which they were not suited. In 1903 E. de Michelis summarised this by stating that Asia and India in particular was not the cradle of civilisation but the grave of the Aryans.

Chamberlain: Aryan-Christian Racism

Houston Stewart Chamberlain (1855-1927) was a British author who wrote the book The Foundations of the Nineteenth Century in 1899. Though English he wrote it in German to emphasise his Aryan-Teutonic heritage. The book was a Europe wide best seller. This book linked Indian caste with race and projected Aryan heritage as the most evolved. He wrote in his book:

...wherever the Aryans went they became masters. The Greeks, the Latin, the Kelts, the Teutons, the Slavs - all were Aryans: of the aborigines of the countries which the overran scarcely a trace remains. So too in India, it was 'varna' colour which distinguished the white conquering Arya from the defeated black man, the Dasyu, and so laid the foundation of the caste. It is to the Teutons branch of the Aryan family that the first place in the world belongs, and the story of the 19th century is the story of the Teutons triumph.

But in time Chamberlain became aware of the limitations of the Biblical basis of the Aryan myth, and even had a premonition that one day the notion of a historical Aryan race might be fully disproved. Yet he felt that the notion was important for Europe. He wrote:

Though it were proved that there never was an Aryan race in the past, yet we desire that in the future that there may be one. That is the decisive standpoint for men of action.

Chamberlains work went on to become an authoritative influence on the Nazi leadership which had devastating consequences for Europe as real authentic history tells us.

Note: All scholars mentioned in this article have never seen or met an Indian let alone been to India. All their papers and books was based on second hand information, hearsay, translations, mistranslations. At best their books and theories can be called 'conjecture' with no scientific foundation.

'Atrocity Literature' British colonial policies, excerpts from the book Breaking India

If the nation state were severely undermined in its external capacity to deal with other forces, the result could invite invasions, re-colonisation, cultural and psychological imperialism, and other unwanted intervention. This has happened numerous times in India's history; for instance, when the British used human-rights cases as pretexts to act against many Indian rulers.

Ironically, the British themselves committed many horrible acts while justifying them by compiling what is known as Atrocity Literature* to depict the savagery of Indians. They claimed that for their own acts were designed to help bring about civilisation for Indians. Here are some examples:

The Criminal Tribes Act was passed in 1871 and made it lawful to perform genocide against a list of Indian tribes deemed to be criminals, including every member of this tribes right from birth. Many tribes were condemned not because they were criminals but because they were fighting against the British destruction of their jungles and other habitats. The Thugs were one such group that got so badly maligned via atrocity literature that their name has entered English language as being synonymous with criminals.
Atrocity literature played its part in downgrading women's rights too. Veena Oldenburg's seminal book, Dowry Murder, gives details of how the British encouraged Indians to list out cases of atrocities that could be blamed on native culture. They systematically compiled these anecdotes, mostly unsubstantiated and often exaggerated and one-sided. This became a justification to enact laws that downgraded the rights of the common citizens. The book shows how the dowry extortion that have become so common in middle-class India today, were actually started when women's traditional property rights were taken away by British through convoluted logic.

Nicolas Dirks is one of the many scholars to have shown how the British used atrocity litrature in order to exacerbate conflicts between 'jatis' in order to 'solve' their problems by intervening. This helped the British to gain further power and extort Indian wealth.
Claims of atrocities against workers were used to outlaw various Indian industries, including textiles and steel making, in which India had a lead over Britain. Meanwhile, the British started own Industrial Revolution to supply these goods to India as a captive market, turning Indians from world-class producers and exporters into importers and paupers. According to British authros WilliamDigby, between 1757 and 1812, the inflow of profits from India into Britain was estimated at between £ 500 million and £ 1 billion. The value of this sum in todays purchasing power would be over a trillion dollars. British were very diligent in documenting alleged cases of atrocities against workers, by the Indian manufacturers who were their competitors, and then outlawed many Indian industries on the charges of violating workers rights. The massive poverty and unemployment that resulted, only made the workers plight worse.

In a land mark monograph written a century ago by Mahatma Gandhi discusses how Indians working for the British were unwittingly helping to sustain the empire.

If one pays attention some of these policies are being carried forward by our present government run by the Congress party and infested with the Left liberals intelligentsia.

Was Indian time keeping technique predecessor to clock towers.

The ancient people of India divided the day and night into sixty parts, each of which was called a 'ghari' [a ghari = 24 mins]. The night and day were each divided into 4 parts, each of which were called a 'pahar'. For time keeping purposes in each town Indians employ a group of men called 'gahriyallis'. These group of men hung a round brass tray two fingers thick called a 'ghariyal' at a high place specially constructed for this purpose. On the ground they place a vessel filled with water and immersed in it another vessel with a hole. Every time this vessels fills up once every ghari [24 mins] the ghariyallis would strike the brass tray with a mallet. For example, when the vessel that they put in the water at daybreak fills up once, they strike the ghariyal once. When it fills up twice they strike it twice and so on until a pahar is completed. The close of each pahar is announced by striking the ghariyal many times in rapid successions pausing and striking the pahar for example twice if it is the second pahar or thrice if it is the third pahar, so on and so forth for the fourth, fifth, sixth etc. When the four pahars of the day are over the night pahars were also introduced in the same way.

Babur was a homosexual!!

A little known fact about Zahir-ud-Din Babur, the founder of the Mughal empire is that he was a homosexual or a bi-sexual at any rate and this is by his own admission in the Baburnama. In fact it was accepted among the Turks to have sexual liaison with boys. Many Turkish nobles kept 'catamites' i.e. young boys as sex slaves. Thus admission of homosexuality in his biography was not construed odd.

The incident narrated below is after his first marriage to his first cousin, daughter of his fathers brother.

'...during this time there was a boy from the camp market named Baburi. Even his name was amazingly appropriate. I developed a strange inclination for him - rather I made myself miserable over him. Before this experience I had never felt a desire for anyone, nor did I listen to talk of love and affection or speak of such things. At that time I used to compose single lines and couples in Persian. I composed the following lines there.'

May no one be so distraught and devastated by love as I;

May no beloved be so pitiless and careless as you.

Babur composes another line for his beloved boy lover after coming face to face with him on the street but unable to show his affection owing to the people around him.

I am embarrassed every time I see my beloved.

My companions are looking at me, but my gaze is elsewhere

He confesses of deep love. 'I wander bareheaded and bare foot around the lanes and streets through the gardens and orchards paying no attention to acquaintances or strangers, oblivious to self and others.'

When I fell in love I became mad and crazed. I knew not this to be part of loving beauties.

'Sometimes I went out alone like a madman to the hills and wilderness sometimes I roamed through the orchards and lanes of town, neither walking nor sitting within my own volition, restless in going and staying.'

I have no strength to go, no power to stay. You have snared us in this sate my heart

What does the name Babur mean?

There is a misconception that the word Babur means a Tiger. Babur's name has appeared as Baber and Babar. There is not the slightest doubt, however that the name is Babur (Bah-boor) which is ultimately derived from the Indo-European word for beaver. Although it has often been suggested that Babur means tiger, it has, in fact nothing to do with the Persian work babr, "tiger". Mirza Mohmd Haydar explains how Babur was given as a nickname to Zahir-ud-Din. "At that time the Chagatai were very rude and uncultured and not refined as they are now. Thus they found his given name Zahir-ud-Din difficult to pronounce, and for that reason gave him the nickname [Babur]"

If Sagarika Ghose tweet was provocative to illicit a response from the twitter community then her agenda was equally nefarious as the designs of her more infamous colleague Barkha Dutt.

PS: By the way I am not even going into the sequence in which the colours of the national flag have been rearranged, legally speaking it can be construed as disrespect to the national flag.

India is the only nation in the world which follows a policy of state sponsored program to destroy its identity, pride and erase its glorious past. The Union Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee has ear marked 100 Crore for Aligarh Muslim University for their upcoming Centres in Murshidabad in West Bengal and Malappuram in Kerala and a whopping 200 Crore for Maulana Azad Education foundation.

While Aligarh University got 50 crore each for it’s two centres to promote Arabic and Islamic studies there were no mention about any funds to popularize Sanskrit. The discrimination is more visible when Pranab da earmarks only 10 crore for setting up Kolkata and Allahabad centres of Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Wardha.

PS: Arabic is not even spoken in India and is totally an alien language.

Book Review: Vijayanagar, The Never To Be Forgotten Empire. A book by a forgotten scholar Pundit B. Suryanarain Rao

Founded in approximately 1336 by Guru Madhavacharya Vidyaranya of Sringeri Mutt along with Harihara and Bukka two local chieftains, it lasted for 229 years in the process creating one of the worlds most magnificent, richest and powerful Empires in the world. There is great deal written about the empires cultural, engineering, military and political achievements in various blogs and websites so I will refrain from replicating the same here. The objective of this post is to discuss two very good books which may interest those interested in Indian history.

Anyone interested in the medieval Indian history must make it a point to read two books on the Vijaynagar Empire the first being Vijayanagar, The Forgotten Empire by Robert Sewell followed by Vijayanagar, The Never To Be Forgotten Empire by B. Suryanarain Rao to get a 360° view of medieval India, the Vijaynagar Empire from all possible perspectives. I would recommend the reader to read the books in the chronology stated here for reasons discussed below.

The book by Robert Sewell, a civil servant posted in southern India during the British raj is a fast paced narrative of the Vijaynagar Empire and its kings* taking the reader from its founding in 1336 including the various stories and myths surrounding its founding to the various accomplishments cultural, political and military finally ending with the demise of the empire in 1565. During the course of his narrative Sewell relies to some extent on contemporary accounts of travelers and ambassadors like Nicolo Conte an Italian traveler, Domingo Paes and Fernao Nuniz Portuguese travelers, Abdur Razzaq ambassador of Persia in the Vijaynagar court and to a great extent on Ferishta who wrote about two hundred year after the end of the Vijaynagar empire from the court of the Bijapur sultans and is of doubtful veracity as proved by Suryanarain Rao in his book.

B. Suryanarain Rao's book titled Vijayanagar, The Never To Be Forgotten Empire Empire seems to be a counter to Robert Sewell's book which exposes the many lapses and errors apart from correcting the historical events and putting the narrative in the right perspective. Suryanarain Rao was a learned and accomplished Veda pundit of his time and is credited among other things to be first person to translate Vedic Astrology treatise into English there by introducing Vedic astrology to the west. Born in 1856 in Srikakulam he graduated from Central College Bengaluru before practicing law at Bellary.

Well versed in the history and culture of the region including the Vedas, Sanskrit, Telegu, Tamil and Halle Kannada (Old Kannada) Suryanarain Rao approaches the subject using records preserved in various rock and copper plate edicts from across the empire known as 'Sasnas'. These edicts are records of various land and other property grants, laws, awards, constructions, felicitations, recognitions, deaths, victories etc. These edicts apart from preserving dates also provide narrative on events and names of the kings who were reigning when the sasna were made thereby providing record of linear succession of kings to the throne with dates. Apart from these sasnas, Rao also had access to the records of the Sringeri Mutt and the Raya Vamshavali  (Lineage of the Kings of Vijayanagar) of old Vijayanagar kings which clearly mentions the contribution of each king, his reign and by whom he was succeeded.

Rao in his works takes the reader way back into history and helps him understand the kingdoms that existed before the Vijayanagar empire and the causes that led to the creation of the empire thereby giving the reader a panoramic view of medieval India's Hindu dynasties. He has dedicated sections to the three major dynasties with chapters for each king thereby giving in-depth analysis of each ruler and his achievements. Far from being an arm chair historian Rao in pursuit of authentic data traversed the length and breadth of the empire interviewing Brahmin scholars much like himself who had information passed down the ages and tomes of rare manuscripts that have recorded the history of the region which have acted as ingredients for his book.

Rao's application of his analytical and mathematical genius shines through as he vigourously investigates records from contemporary sources used by Sewell but instead of blindly relying on them as gospel Rao correlates this data with the sasnas, the Raya Vamshavali and the Sringeri Mutt records coming out with a clear narrative devoid of any ambiguity or bias and in places where he cannot conclude conclusively he openly declares multiple open paths which a reader can choose but states that the truth can be discerned only if new data is forthcoming in the future. Such openness and flexibility is not forthcoming from Robert Sewell who shuts doors firmly, never for a minute doubting the veracity of data, especially from the sycophant Ferishta who operated from the Bijapuri sultans court some 200 years after the end of the Vijayanagar empire. Sewell relies heavily on Ferishta, especially accounts of war which are skewed in favour of the Bahamani's. Rao demolishes these narratives by providing evidence to the contrary and concluding that if the Bahamanis ravaged Vijayanagar so much and so often then how come Vijayanagar continued to thrive and grow in all directions for more than 230 years attracting all sorts of luminaries from across the world whereas the muslims kingdom stagnated and finally fragmented into 5 parts.

Another problem with Robert Sewells book is that he relies too much on foreign travelers who may have faced numerous challenges with respect to language, culture, customs in understanding and recording events from the right perspective which becomes evident in the way they record names of kings, places, festivals, events etc. Lets not forget that these travelers were coming from the Christian or Islamic west abhorring anything not conforming to their respective faiths. The bias that may have creeped in can only be imagined. Moreover these travelers were recording events at various points in history for a brief period during their stay, thus an empire that spanned the entire Deccan from the east to the west coast of India and lasted for 230 years was too big a canvas for any traveler to view or record. Thus its hardly surprising that Sewell has relied on Ferishta too much, no matter how so ever biased and erroneous who with the benefit of hindsight seems to have captured the entire history of Vijayanagar in couple of volumes where as the others have captured only small parts and places in time.

Needless to say Sewell's lack of skills with indigenous languages like Kannada, Telegu, Tamil and Sanskrit proved a major handicap and he seemed to have altogether ignored the sasnas except in a few cases where some ready translations were available. Even then he has not correlated data with the travelogues of visitors to arrive at studied conclusions like Rao did ♠.

Robert Sewell in my opinion, keeping with the tradition of the days of the 'Raj' like many unqualified, untrained and arm chair historians ended up writing the history of India, to make a name and a fast buck and in the process totally falsifying and destroying the truth, wrongly colouring the minds of generations to come†. Sewell assembled various available records threaded a fast paced narrative and lo and behold ended up creating the most authoritative book on the Vijayanagar Empire. Let me assure you Sewell's value addition to the entire enterprise is only assembling various records in chronological order and publishing it.

But having said the above regarding Sewell's book, his contribution is important because it establishes the primacy of the Vijayanagar empire and its importance in the history of medieval India and the Hindu civilisation. Sewells work also makes available to future scholars all possible records of historians and travelers in one single volume (398 pages). Being a general narrative the book provides for quick and easy reading laying the foundation for the readers to understand more comprehensive information dealt with in the analytical and precise work by Suryanarain Rao's Vijayanagar, The Never To Be Forgotten Empire.

PS: The reader is made aware that Suryanarain Rao's book Vijaynagar, The Never To Be Forgotten Empire 2nd volume was never completed.

* The three main dynasties being the founding Sangama Dynasty, the Saluva followed by the Tuluva dynasty made famous by Krishnadeva Raya the greatest Emperor of medieval India probably even greater than Akbar. During his reign the empire extended from Kanyakumari in the south to the Goa in the West to Odisha in the east. His contribution to arts, science, trade and culture is unparalleled for a monarch involved in constant warfare apart from the fact the he built grand monuments for the betterment of his subjects like dams, reservoirs, aqueducts, temples etc.

 The Raya Vamshavali was provided by the then Raja of Anegondi, Sriranga Devarayalu

♠ Suryanarain Rao repeatedly mentions discrepancies between the narrations of Sewell the travelogues and the sasanas and then goes on to correct the narrations using multiple data sources and correlating data.

Ignorance of the Hindus and the lies they are fed!

This post is inspired by my discussions on Hinduism with the so called 'liberals' the self proclaimed secularist who are actually pseudos or plainly ignorant. I challenge them by asking them what do they know about Hinduism, or define please Hinduism for me and the oft repeated line is Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life, Hinduism and its philosophies can be interpreted as one wishes and that there is no one interpretation, Hinduism cannot be defined etc!! My next question is who said these things or how or where did they hear these things i.e. and the response is vague and you start realising that the person is out of depth and has no understanding, in defense he even retaliates by calling me a Hindutva fascist.

To cut to the chase, such false notions of Hinduism is spread by non other other than Christian missionaries, Muslims, left leaning scholars, western academicians who have half baked knowledge or hidden agendas pandering to one or the other political or religious groups who funds their work.

The objective of spreading such false notions of Hinduism not being a religion is to then raise the question to a potential convert about his religion and to state to him that he has none because Hinduism is not a religion and the Hindus say it themselves. Thus he should embrace the true faith i.e. Christianity or Islam depending on which religion the deceiver belong to.*

The second false notion about flexible and varied interpretations of Hindu scriptures is spread so that missionaries, mullahs (for eg. Zakir Naik) and marxist (the 3M's) alike have a field day interpreting and reinterpreting Hindu scriptures and put Hindus on the defensive, challenge Hindu philosophies and make them sound redundant, false or just shame Hindus with the objective of gaining converts. *

For the record Hinduism is a religion with a set of codes and religious obligations and it demands its adherents to perform them, its different matter that most of us don't. Hinduism has had various saints and sages who have contributed their wisdom and philosophies to the religion down the ages (7000 to 8000 yrs) which has come down to us in the form of The Vedas (Rig, Sama, Yajur and Atharva) Upanishads, Puranas, The Bhagwat Geeta and many other such works of wisdom and philosophies. Thus unlike the Abrahamic relgions Hinduism is not a hostage to a prophet or a victim of dogma's.

Secondly Hinduism has many books of wisdom and philosophies even more saints and sages but Hinduism has one central belief system and none of these are open to flexible and varied interpretations and have very precise and exact meaning. The Vedas, The Bhagwat Geeta, The Upanishads are all very clear in their meaning and message.

So please dispel this vague notion of Hinduism and go rediscover it. Learn from a guru the real meaning of Hinduism or Sanatana Dharma the real name Hinduism.

* These are the just the few possible ways the missionary, mullah, marxist combine spread lies and then use them against ignorant Hindus.

One-way ticket: My take on the Godhra tragedy when it happened!!

There is something profoundly worrying in the response of what might be called the secular establishment to the massacre in Godhra. Though there is some dispute over the details, we now know what happened on the railway track. A mob of 2,000 people stopped the Sabarmati Express shortly after it pulled out of Godhra station. The train contained several bogeys full of kar sewaks who were on their way back to Ahmedabad after participating in the Poorna Ahuti Yagya at Ayodhya. The mob attacked the train with petrol and acid bombs. According to some witnesses, explosives were also used. Four bogies were gutted and at least 57 people, including over a dozen children, were burnt alive.

Some versions have it that the kar sewaks shouted anti-Muslim slogans; others that they taunted and harassed Muslim passengers. According to these versions, the Muslim passengers got off at Godhra and appealed to members of their community for help. Others say that the slogans were enough to enrage the local Muslims and that the attack was revenge.

It will be some time before we can establish the veracity of these versions, but some things seem clear. There is no suggestion that the kar sewaks started the violence. The worst that has been said is that they misbehaved with a few passengers. Equally, it does seem extraordinary that slogans shouted from a moving train or at a railway platform should have been enough to enrage local Muslims, enough for 2,000 of them to have quickly assembled at eight in the morning, having already managed to procure petrol bombs and acid bombs.

Even if you dispute the version of some of the kar sewaks - that the attack was premeditated and that the mob was ready and waiting – there can be no denying that what happened was indefensible, unforgivable and impossible to explain away as a consequence of great provocation.

And yet, this is precisely how the secular establishment has reacted.

Nearly every non-BJP leader who appeared on TV on Wednesday and almost all of the media have treated the massacre as a response to the Ayodhya movement. This is fair enough in so far as the victims were kar sewaks.

But almost nobody has bothered to make the obvious follow-up point: this was not something the kar sewaks brought on themselves. If a trainload of VHP volunteers had been attacked while returning after the demolition of the Babri masjid in December 1992, this would still have been wrong, but at least one could have understood the provocation.

This time, however, there has been no real provocation at all. It is possible that the VHP may defy the government and the courts and go ahead with the temple construction eventually. But, as of now, this has not happened. Nor has there been any real confrontation at Ayodhya - as yet.

And yet, the sub-text to all secular commentary is the same: the kar sewaks had it coming to them.

Basically, they condemn the crime; but blame the victims.

Try and take the incident out of the secular construct that we, in India, have perfected and see how bizarre such an attitude sounds in other contexts. Did we say that New York had it coming when the Twin Towers were attacked last year? Then too, there was enormous resentment among fundamentalist Muslims about America’s policies, but we didn’t even consider whether this resentment was justified or not.

Instead we took the line that all sensible people must take: any massacre is bad and deserves to be condemned.

When Graham Staines and his children were burnt alive, did we say that Christian missionaries had made themselves unpopular by engaging in conversion and so, they had it coming? No, of course, we didn’t.

Why then are these poor kar sewaks an exception? Why have we de-humanised them to the extent that we don’t even see the incident as the human tragedy that it undoubtedly was and treat it as just another consequence of the VHP’s fundamentalist policies?

The answer, I suspect, is that we are programmed to see Hindu-Muslim relations in simplistic terms: Hindus provoke, Muslims suffer.

When this formula does not work -- it is clear now that a well-armed Muslim mob murdered unarmed Hindus - we simply do not know how to cope. We shy away from the truth - that some Muslims committed an act that is indefensible - and resort to blaming the victims.

Of course, there are always ‘rational reasons’ offered for this stand. Muslims are in a minority and therefore, they deserve special consideration. Muslims already face discrimination so why make it harder for them? If you report the truth then you will inflame Hindu sentiments and this would be irresponsible. And so on.

I know the arguments well because - like most journalists - I have used them myself. And I still argue that they are often valid and necessary.

But there comes a time when this kind of rigidly ‘secularist’ construct not only goes too far; it also becomes counter-productive. When everybody can see that a trainload of Hindus was massacred by a Muslim mob, you gain nothing by blaming the murders on the VHP or arguing that the dead men and women had it coming to them.

Not only does this insult the dead (What about the children? Did they also have it coming?), but it also insults the intelligence of the reader. Even moderate Hindus, of the sort that loathe the VHP, are appalled by the stories that are now coming out of Gujarat: stories with uncomfortable reminders of 1947 with details about how the bogies were first locked from outside and then set on fire and how the women’s compartment suffered the most damage.

Any media - indeed, any secular establishment - that fails to take into account the genuine concerns of people risks losing its own credibility. Something like that happened in the mid-Eighties when an aggressive hard secularism on the part of the press and government led even moderate Hindus to believe that they had become second class citizens in their own country. It was this Hindu backlash that brought the Ayodhya movement - till then a fringe activity - to the forefront and fuelled the rise of L.K. Advani’s BJP.

My fear is that something similar will happen once again. The VHP will ask the obvious question of Hindus: why is it a tragedy when Staines is burnt alive and merely an ‘inevitable political development’ when the same fate befalls 57 kar sewaks?

Because, as secularists, we can provide no good answer, it is the VHP’s responses that will be believed. Once again, Hindus will believe that their suffering is of no consequence and will be tempted to see the building of a temple at Ayodhya as an expression of Hindu pride in the face of secular indifference.

But even if this were not to happen, even if there was no danger of a Hindu backlash, I still think that the secular establishment should pause for thought.

There is one question we need to ask ourselves: have we become such prisoners of our own rhetoric that even a horrific massacre becomes nothing more than occasion for Sangh parivar-bashing?

Believe it or no this is an article posted by wait hold your breath...Vir Sanghvi. After all he still has some sense left in him. Nonetheless a profound argument put forward.

I have extracted a few points from the NDTV debate on the Godhra verdict and tried to showcase how NDTV, the pseudo secularist and Congress try to exploit every situation and peoples misfortune to their advantage. It also becomes evident that how patently false are their arguments.

· According to NDTV 63 people were found innocent. How can NDTV claim this, the court itself has not said this. They just did not find evidence against the 63 acquitted. How can mere 31 people burn down a train and kill 58 people. Eye witness accounts state that the train was swarmed by thousands of people. The court has never said that the 63 people released were found innocent. NDTV makes things up as they go along.

Raghavan SIT Chief says: Prime accused Maulvi Umarji let off because of lack of judgment and appeals will be made in appellate court. He is being made out to be an innocent figure already by NDTV.

Harish Salve says: Justice Banerjee report on the Godhra massacre was stage managed and was fed with patently false data which resulted in a sham report to suite the Congress regime in time for the 2004 elections.

· As usual NDTV conducts shows on court judgments and makes TV studio pronouncements before court verdict is published or made public and digested by the experts. Pure speculative TRP journalism by NDTV.

· Jayanthi Natrajan of the Congress finds Barkha a balanced person?! I was amazed by this observation.

· Jayanthi still calls Narendra Modi mastermind of the riots after courts have found him innocent just a few months back. If the 63 people having been acquitted for lack of evidence are considered innocent by Congress and media and for whom they are shedding crocodile tears for the 9 year long incarceration, then these people should also spare a thought for Narendra Modi. How can they continue to malign him even after the courts have found no evidence of wrong doing on his part.

Jayathi Natrajan kept demanding compensation for the 63 people who were in jail for 9 years. What about Narendra Modi against whom Congress, media and pesudo secularist mounted a smear campaign calling him names. How do they plan to compensate him. Why is Jayanthi Natrajan not speaking about compensation to the 58 massacred Kar Sevaks.

· Jayathi seems to have great respect for Laloo Prasad Yadav which speaks volume of this ladies judgment and perspective.

· When verdict has not gone as per Congress expectations Jayanthi finds SIT influenced by BJP

Jai Naryan Vyas says: Teesta Setalvad and so called pseudo seculars delayed the case by various tactics to move the case out of Gujarat and this was the cause of the delay and not the state govt or court as per the media and Congress

· People forget that there was a theory popularised by media, pseudo seculars and Congress that Kar Sevaks started the riots by hitting some muslim chai walah at stations or a muslim girl was kidnapped and raped in the train or that Kar Sevaks fired a stove that caused the fire etc. what happened to these false stories. It has been proved as lies planted by the same media, pseudo secularist and Congress. The High court has found the entire Godhra massacre a conspiracy. So if anything the Muslims planned a pogrom/ genocide of 58 Kar Sevaks. The reaction to the Godhra massacre was a spontaneous combustion and not a preplanned killing as pseudo secularist would like us to believe.

I don’t know how many of you have noticed but there has been a steady decline in the past few months and now a total absence in clear reporting on global Islamic terrorism and when ever there is a report on a terror attack, the story is very politically correct. Gone are the direct references to Islamic terror or terrorism spawned by Islamic Jihad.

If people remember a few months back US President Barak Obama made a statement asking the press and the administration to seize and desist from associating terror with Islam and his demand is being followed to the letter not just in the US but also in other parts of the world including India, a long term appeaser and apologist of Islam. In fact India has gone one step further and created fictitious story of Hindu terror (more on it later). In his bid to build bridges with Muslims Obama has resorted to appeasement and has even become an apologist. Obama has also in a very vague manner asked NASA to reach out to Muslims, only Obama knows in his infinite wisdom how NASA can help improve relations with Muslims. If you ask me, the only way NASA can help is by dropping millions of edited versions of the Quran sans the violent content from outer space there by making it look like a message from Allah and hope the new edition will have a positive impact on his followers.

As I look back into history Barak Hussain Obama seems like a reincarnation of Neville Chamberlain (British Prime Minister at the outbreak of the World War II) who took to appeasement instead of confronting Hitler’s bullying tactics with firmness and resolute action. Chamberlains naiveté and cowardice only emboldened Hitler into doing what pleased him.

In a nutshell the events unfolding now are more or less mirror images of the way events occurred in the first half of the previous century. The assassination of Arch Duke Francis Ferdinand triggered World War 1 just as 9/11 triggered the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. Both events set the stage for a dangerous political movement, the Nazi’s then and Islamic terrorism now.

There was more than scholarship involved in creating the Aryan invasion theory. Max Muller was as much colonial-missionary political agents as he was a scholar, for which he was richly rewarded. As he proudly declared in his Autobiography: “Lord Derby, then secretary of State for India, declared that the scholars who had discovered and proved the close relationship between Sanskrit and English, had rendered more valuable services to the British Government of India than many a regiment”. As the 26/11/2008 attack on Mumbai was underway and Major Unnikrishnan lay martyred battling Pakistani terrorist, the prince of India Rahul Gandhi was partying with friends and family in a farm house near Delhi. Is this the way a man who in his mind aspires to be the Prime Minister of India behave while India was under a major terror attack. Instead of being at the helm of affairs as an MP of the ruling party and first family of India, one would expect him to be at the forefront if not at 'ground zero' in Mumbai.

Devout Christians were at the forefront of the resistance to Darwin’s theory of evolution and natural selection. Surprisingly parts of America and Europe still resist his theory. In fact as late as 1890 most schools in the west taught the Biblical account of creation, which means that most students who passed out from these institutions were indoctrinated by this Christian dogma. The fact that the first English schools in India were run by Christian missionaries was also responsible for the Biblical theory, and it’s the Aryan invasion theory. In the sixteenth century European travelers to India were struck by the remarkable affinties between Sanskrit and European languages. Fillippo Sasseti a Florentine merchant living in Goa between 1583-88 CE, observed that there was definite connection between Sanskrit and European languages. But it was Sir William Jones a Calcutta judge with the British East India Co. the founder of the Asiatic Society who launched a comparative linguistics study. He observed…

The Sanskrit language whatever be its antiquity is of wonderful structure; more perfect than Greek, more copious than Latin, and more exquisitely refined than either, yet bearing to both of them a stronger affinity, both in the roots of the verbs and the forks of the grammar, than could possibly have been produced by accident; so strong, indeed that no philologer could examine them all three without believing them to have sprung from the some common source.

Many historians regard this observation by William Jones as the basis for ancient Indian history. Please note that the whole approach to ancient Indian history came into existence flowing from the study of Sanskrit and other European languages.

Its not surprising that linguist such as Friedrich Max Muller and Albrecht Weber should have formulated a model of ancient Indian history based on their theories of comparative linguistics.

According to the AIT a people called Aryans, a branch of the Indo-Europeans living originally in Central Asia or Europe invaded India overcame the natives, who according to this theory were ‘a rabble of aboriginal savages’ to become the lord and masters of India. This is the famous Aryan invasion theory being treated as historical facts by Indian and western historians. According to this theory the invaders brought the Vedas and Sanskrit language with them.

To arrive at this theory and date of 1500 BC Max Muller relied on the only model available for ancient history available in Europe then - The Biblical account of Creation.

Points to note:

1) For a moment lets take the AIT at face value. The AIT was created in the mid 1800 and the Harappan ruins were found in the 1920’s then how is it that the linguists have concluded on ‘invasion’.

2) Later historians have very smartly retrofitted all new findings, artifacts and evidence into the AIT model without looking at alternate theories.

Comment: JNU Marxist historians like Romila Thapar who recently retracted the Aryan race and invasion theory and other western scholars like Michael Witzel, Akso Parpola etc are ready to base their studies and reputation on the unscientific conjecture of British bureaucrats and civil servants but don’t give alternate models due respect. The funny part is that in the last 150 odd years the scholars supporting the AIT have only done just that ‘supported’ this flawed theory and have not come out with any new break through. Witzel and her minions have spent their entire lifetime in propping up this false theory.

A 17th century artificial Belgo-Dutch festival celebrating slavery which went on to spawn a clone in North America (Santa Claus) is in the midst of a raging racial debate. Every year around this year (Early December) the Dutch and the Belgians celebrate a festival called Sinterklass (St.Nicholas) who has a host of black slaves running around doing his bidding. While many deny racial connotations and whitewash it with weak excuses, the historical evidence, lyrics, poems and physical evidence proves conclusively that it is a very racist festival sanctioned by the Christian church.

The Dutch and the Belgians known world wide for their 'liberal societies' appear to belglib talkers when they lecture other societies and cultures on liberalism. Europe and the west in general has always been racist and with each passing day the stance is hardening. Their stance on racism is as weak and false as their claim to any supremacist theory.

In media accounts today, particularly in India, it seems that any group which identifies itself as Hindu or tries to promote any Hindu cause is quickly and uncritically defined as ‘right-winged’.

The truth is that the Hindu movement is a revival of a native spiritual tradition that has nothing to do with the political right-wing of any western country.

The Hindu cause is similar to the cause of native and tribal peoples all over the world, like native American and African groups.

Yet while the concerns of native peoples have been taken up by the left worldwide, the same concerns of Hindus are styled right-wing or communal, particularly by the left in India!

When native peoples in America or Africa protest missionaries for interfering with their culture, they are supported by the left. Yet when Hindus express the same sentiments, they are attacked by the left.

Unfortunately, the intellectual elite of India, though following a leftist orientation, has no sympathy for the country’s own native tradition. They identify it as right-wing in order to express their hostility towards it. They portray it as a majority oppression of minorities, when it is the movement of a suppressed majority to regain its dignity.

Not surprisingly, the same leftists in India, who have long been allied to communist China, similarly style the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan cause as right-wing and regressive, though the Dalai Lama is honored by the American left.

In India, the political terminology of right and left is defined by Marxists, who like to call anyone that opposes them right-wing or fascists. According to their view anything traditionally Hindu would have to be right-wing on principle, just as only their views are deemed progressive, even if supporting Stalinist tactics.

However, the entire right-left division reflects the conditions of western politics and is inaccurate in the Indian context. We must give up such concepts in examining Indic civilization, which in its core is spiritually based, not politically driven.

No one could have failed to notice how much space and exposure were provided to Rahul Gandhi as one day the press gleefully reported that the "Baton has passed to Rahul". "Manmohan is dead and long live Rahul" was even exalted to the level of divine prophesy on the authority of a little known astrologer, who claimed to have glanced at the horoscopes of the two men, but had not bothered to see the natal chart of the Congress party.

Some questions are too obvious. Let me give a few samples.

1. We have no objection to your mother's ambition to see you installed as India's Prime Minister. Obviously she did not entertain this ambition either for herself or any of her children in 1991. Are you prepared to take the nation into confidence and disclose the qualifications you have acquired since then to take into your hands the destiny of this complex and most populous and poverty stricken democracy?

2. Do you agree that the best available statesman in the country should fill that post? If yes, how have you convinced yourself that you are the one? We would not mind if your mother answers this question. We hope you will not turn to our dear friends Mani Shankar Aiyar or Abhishek Singhvi to ghost write the answers.

3. We are highly appreciative of the Election Commission which compels candidates for public office to disclose their material assets.

We wish they logically mandate the disclosure of intellectual assets as well. But if democracy is all about transparency, would you kindly let the nation know what academic qualifications you have acquired, when, how and from which institutions. It will help if you also tell the curious Indian nation what books you have read during the last five years; have you published any articles or any readable material on politics, economics, terrorism, war and peace? Is there any speech in Parliament, to the local Rotary Club or to a bunch of tiny toddlers with a single quotable quote that illumines or inspires and gives us some clue to your intellectual attainments? We know quite a few talented young men in the Congress party and naturally people would like to be satisfied that you are better endowed than them all. That your mother is Soniaji or your father was Rajivji is not enough evidence.

4. There have been oft-repeated charges of financial impropriety and worse against your family, including by the president of Janata Party, Subramanian Swamy, Swiss magazines and, most unusually in a book on the KGB. Why have you not responded?

If you plead ignorance of all the stuff mentioned in the questions you do not deserve to be India's Prime Minister any way.

It’s important to note that the Aryan invasion theory is entirely a nineteenth century European creation. It finds no support in ancient Indian records, which recognizes no homeland other than India. Also, the theory was formulated when there was no archaeology or scientific methods to assist nineteenth century European scholars who also for the most part lacked scientific education. Most of them believed in the Biblical theory of creation according to which the world and all the living things were created at 9:00 am on October 23^rd 4004 BC. For several centuries it was a serious offence to question this Christian dogma. Firm belief in this dogma led early Indologist to manipulate Indian history and chronology to fit everything within the framework of this Biblical superstition.

History books do not mention this Biblical background – most authors probably are even unaware of it – but unwittingly they still carry the legacy of this Christian Fundamentalist doctrine. It was later presented in the linguistic terms, and the chronology of ancient India and the date of the Rigveda found in history books were made to rest on these Biblical beliefs: Creation in 4004 BC and the Biblical floods in 2448 BC. Nor is this the only contributor to the Aryan invasion theory, European and British colonial interest too played their role.

Ancient Chronology - The Harappa-Sutra connection. Excerpts from the book Sarasvati and the Vedic Civilisation by NS Rajaram Part 9

The foundation of the book Sarasvati River and the Vedic Civilisation by NS Rajaram drives home the point that the Vedic Sarasvati civilisation and the Harappan civilisation were one and the same. The Rigvedic Sarasvati civilisation represents an earlier phase from the Harappan civilisation.

Very briefly we can summaries that the Rigvedic civilisation formed the cultural, religious and intellectual basis of the later Harappan civilisation and the Harappan cities were the materialistic side of the Vedic civilisation.

This is proven by research conducted by archaeologist such as SR Rao in India and AH Dani in Pakistan who found several evidence of Vedic practices including sacrifices and fire worship. A careful correlation of these archeological finds like Vedic altars with technical literature has shown that the Sulbhasutras – which are mathematical manuals found in Vedic literature must have been used for their design and construction.

These mathematical texts are part of the so-called Sutra period of the Vedic age. The four Vedas constitute the basic Vedic literature. This was followed by the Brahmanas and the Sutras. The Sutra period is therefore the closing part of the Vedic age. The famous Sulbasutras are part of the Sutra literature and therefore came at the end of the Vedic age. Since we now have the connections between the Sulbas and Harappan archeology, this suggests that the Harappan civilisation must have belonged to the closing period of the Vedic age.

This conclusion is supported by other research. On the basis of a comparison of archaeology with the literary records of India and the Mesopotamia, KD Sethna and others have independently shown that the Harappan civilisation of the c. 3000 to 2000 BC corresponds also to the Sutra period of the Vedic literature. The Harappans carried on brisk trade with the Sumerians who had their empire in the valley of the rivers Tigris and Euphrates in west Asia.

Sethan’s work is based on a comparison of Indian and Sumerian records. Sethan notes that the evidence of cotton in Sumerian and Harappan sites combined with it being mentioned in the Sutras literature for the first time imply that both the Harappan and Sumerian civilisation belonged to the Sutra period. The Sumerians called cotton kapazum, which is known as karpasa in Sanskrit. Furthermore, the Sumerians have recorded that cotton was imported from India. In Sumerians records India is referred to as Meluhha a Prakrit word for western India that was further corrupted from Sanskrit word ‘Mleecha’.

The Sutra literature in particular the mathematics of Sulbasutras must have been the basis of the great urban civilisation of the Harappans. Do remember that Harappan structures were multi-storied structures, harbours, huge water tanks and granaries, well laid out cobbled streets with running water for each house and sewage system that rivals modern cities. Without this scientific infrastructure the great urban civilisations of the Harappans would not have been possible just as the modern world would not have been possible without modern mathematics.

The important point to note is that the scientific analysis presented here shows that the Rigveda describes the society before the rise of the Harappan civilisation. This is exact reverse of the chronological relationship between the Vedic and the Harappan societies given in the history books currently.

Comment: The current history books don’t explain the basis for the great urban civilisation of the Harappan civilisation yet credits the Vedas to the nomadic barbarian Aryan invaders. Going by the current history books Harappan urban civilisation sprang out of thin air were then destroyed by invading barbarians who brought the high Vedic knowledge with them. How much more unscientific and unsubstantiated can the narrative on the Aryan invasion theory be.

One of the first among many political accomplishments of Rahul Gandhi was a defeat at the Delhi University Students Union election in 2010. Rahul has been proved a 'failure' time and again, very clearly in the Bihar elections followed by the public humiliation in Gujarat. Yet media and Congress persist. Sonia the sinner preaching. On November 24, 2010, ‘SoniaG’ certified, “Manmohan Singh is more than 100 per cent honest”. The next day, she proclaimed her ‘zero tolerance’ to corruption. What a tragedy? Certificate of probity from Sonia to Singh! Could anything be more humiliating? For, only five years ago, Manmohan Singh had saved her from the Bofors scam by calling back the red corner notice against her Italian friend Ottavio Quattrocchi (Q), recipient of a third of the pay-off from Bofors. Here is that shameful story in brief. Sten Lindstorm, who was the head of the National Investigation Bureau, equal to the CBI here, had probed the Bofors pay-off in Sweden. He told Outlook (April 6, 1998) that Sonia must explain how the companies owned by Q got fat payoffs from Bofors; what was her nexus with Q; who introduced him to Bofors. Lindstorm said that Q got Bofors payoffs was confirmed. Six years later on April 8, 2004, he wrote that Sonia must be questioned on the scam, asserting, “I know what I am saying”.

The diary of Martin Ardbo, managing director of Bofors and the bribe giver, had mentioned his meeting with “Gandhi Trust lawyer”. Finally Q, who came to India long back virtually as Sonia’s baggage from Italy, behaved exactly like a thief when proof against him emerged; he slipped away from India in 1993, thanks to P V Narasimha Rao yielding to pressure from Sonia. In 1999, Sonia defended Q, pleaded he was innocent; she alleged that the NDA government was hounding him. Ten years later Singh chided his own government for harassing Q. Sonia protected the corrupt Q; Singh allowed him to escape prosecution. And Sonia, a suspect in Bofors bribery, is now the president of the Congress, and chairperson of the National Advisory Council. She condescends to certify Singh’s honesty and shamelessly proclaims that she is zero tolerant to corruption. Isn’t it a double tragedy?

A tsunami of scams during Sonia raj. Scams in quick succession in recent months has swamped the public domain. First of course is the ‘Raja of Scams’, the 2G Spectrum sale involving a loot of Rs 1,76,000 crore; second, how intriguingly the prime minister, now certified by the Bofors scam suspect as ‘Mr Clean’, silently first and openly later, allowed the scamsters to loot that national asset; third, how the ‘Mr. Clean’ PM sat on Subramanian Swamy’s plea to prosecute A Raja for the scam and is now hiding in legalisms to escape the blame for the delay; fourth, the transcript of the tele-conversation of the high profile PR executive Niira Radia, in which not just the politicians, but many media stars and business magnates stand naked in public for different things, including for having lobbied to make Raja telecom minister; fifth, the Commonwealth Games fraud involving Rs 8,000 crore; sixth, the Adarsh housing scam involving some Rs 600 crore. The gross value of the three loots touches almost Rs1.85 lakh crore, equal to 18.5 per cent of the national budget.

Spectrum Allotment process by A Raja. The CAG report says, “13 applicants were ready with DDs drawn on dates prior to the notification itself” — a clear proof that they had prior information.

A defiant Raja after being caught in October 2009 “why should I resign? I had done everything in consultation with the PM”. The PM did not deny that statement.

Sonia's intervention. Between November 2007 and January 2008, someone must have hinted to the PM not to meddle with Raja. There is no other way PM’s November objection could become a meek non-objection in January. Who except Sonia Gandhi could turn the PM’s strong objection into a meek non-objection? And who else could make the PM defend Raja in May 2010. Assume this, then everything falls in place; otherwise nothing is explainable.

Niira Radia tapes. There are 5,400 telephonic conversations involving Niira Radia reportedly recorded; available on the Internet are a mere 102, of which only 23 have been transcribed and printed. So one can estimate the bombs still hidden.

CBI transcripts of the Niira Radia tapes. Niira Radia was very close to Raja and was involved in getting 2G licences for three operators, namely, Unitech, Swan, and Datacom; two, Raja himself has equity stakes in the licences he has issued; three, Radia and Kanimozhi worked through Vir Sanghvi (editor Hindustan Times, a unabashed Congress mouth piece) and Barkha Dutt, two famed journalists, for negotiating to get Raja in as telecom minister after the elections in 2009; four, Radia was also close to the auditor of Rajathi Ammal, (Karunanidhi’s second wife and Kanimozhi’s mother); five, Radia was also involved in advising on the resale of the licences by Swan and Unitech; and so on. It is a shameful account whose full details are not out yet.

600 crores for a Cabinet berth. Radia narrates to Vir Sanghvi on May 23, 2009, at past 10.26 pm about how Dayanidhi Maran was exerting pressure through Karunanidhi’s kin Stalin, Dayalu Ammal and Selvi to get into the Cabinet, and tells, “I believe that Maran has given about 600 crores to Dayalu, Stalin’s mother”.

Conclusion. The fraudulent venture must have had the backing of someone more powerful than the PM. That only explains Raja’s defiance of the PM; and the PM acquiescence first and finally his defence of the deal itself.

Sarasvati, the great mother of us all (The Wakankar findings) - Sarasvati and the Vedic Civilisation by NS Rajaram Part 8

The Sarasvati River described in the Rigveda as flowing from the ‘mountains to the sea’ is very ancient, several centuries before 3000 BC or well over 5000 years old counting from today. What is interesting is that the Yamuna and Sutlej flowed into the Sarasvati. The made the mighty river mightier. Sometimes before 3000 BC, probably due to tectonic shifts that followed earthquakes, the Yamuna changed course and began to flow into the Ganga. This reduced the flow into the Sarasvati, leading to a weakening of its upper course that soon disappeared into the desert at a place called Vinashana. Archaeologists have identified the place as Kalibangan in Rajasthan where Harappan and pre-Harappan settlements have been found along with signs of at least one earthquake. This corresponds to the description found in the post Rigveda literature like the Jaiminiya Brahmana and also the Mahabharata.

While the upper Sarasvati weakened and disappeared into the desert, the lower Sarasvati continued to flow through what is now the Thar Desert, fed by the Sutlej and other smaller rivers. This is what sustained the Harappan civilisation in Rajasthan, Sindh and Cholistan down to the Rann of Kutch. But this lower Sarasvati too dried up in stages in the 2200-1900 BC period, ending with it the Harappan civilisation. The reason for this was ecological degradation and not any invasion – Aryan or otherwise. First as it happened with the Yamuna, the Sarasvati lost the Sutlej when it changes course and joined the Indus again due to tectonic shifts. This was compounded by massive worldwide drought in and around 2200-1900 BC period that struck across a wide belt from southern Europe, North Africa to China. It ended the civilisations of the Dynastic Egypt and Sumer-Akkad in Mesopotamia along with Harappan. The Harappan civilisation ended in around 1900 BC and not 1500 BC as stated by some history books. Which means the civilisation ended a good 400 to 500 years earlier than thought.

This ecological degradation was a major blow to the region. This resulted in migration of the Harappan civilisation into Gujarat, east into the Gangetic plain and into west Asia. There are records of Kassite rulers of Indian origin establishing an empire in Babylon that lasted for 500 years

Reference to Sarasvati in the Rigveda - Sarasvati River and the Vedic Civilisation by NS Rajaram Part 7

The discovery of the Sarasvati was a major blow to the Aryan invasion theory. Till then they subjected the existence of the Sarasvati to fiction or placed it in strange geographic areas ranging from Russia, West Asia, Central Asia to Afghanistan. But in 1975 NASA satellite picture exploded this myth later confirmed by V.S. Wakankar who led a ground level expedition to plot the course of the now extinct river.

Verse in the Gritsamada

Ambitame, naditame, devitame sarasvati

That is, Sarasvati is the best of mothers, the best of rivers, the best Goddess.

Some modern scholars have equated Sarasvati to Haraqiti a inconsequential insignificant stream in Afghanistan compared to the power and destruction capability of Sarasvati as mentioned in the Rigveda. In anycase this poses a major challenge. The Haraqiti is landlocked and does not flow from the mountain to the sea as mentioned in the Rigveda. More serious is the location: the famous Nadi Sukta of the Rigveda places the Sarasvati between the Yamuna and the Shutudri (Sutlej). Enumerating the rivers from the east to the west, it says;

Imam me gange yamune sarasvati shutudri stomam parushnya;

Asiknya marudvridhe vitastya arjikiye shrinuhya sushomaya.

Since the Nadi Sukta mentions all the rivers from the Ganga to the Indus and beyond, locating the Sarasvati to Afghanistan would require us to shift the Ganga, Yamuna and the other Indian rivers to Afghanistan. More importantly, the passage helps in locating the Sarasvati between the Yamuna and the Sutlej.

As far back as 1886 R.J. Oldham of the Geological Survey of India concluded that a great river with its course lying between the Yamuna and the Sutlej did exist in ancient times as described in the Rigveda. Oldham’s discoveries were ignored by those attached to the AIT who referred to Sarasvati as a deity worshipped in the form of a river. But with the discovery of the Sarasvati the river has dropped a big hole into this argument.

Global Drought 2200-1900 BC

A joint French-American study of northern Mesopotamia just noted (Wiess, Coutry et. al. 1993) that the Akkadian empire of Mesopotamia, which had extensive trade links with the Harappans, was brought to an abrupt end as the result of a severe drought that began about 2200 BC and persisted for nearly 300 years. They attributed this to a global climatic change of increasing aridity that began nearly a thousand years earlier climaxing in what is now called the Great Drought of c. 2200-1900BC. Since the mature Vedic Harappan civilisation is also known to have ended around the same time the cause of the end is very obvious and common to all great civilisations of the period the Egyptian, Mesopotamian and the Harappan.
